Question
We have been told by our thirdparty
payer that the CPT codes for follow-up
inpatient consultations have been deleted for
2006. How do we report these services?

The follow-up inpatient consultation
codes 99261-99263 have been deleted
with instructions to report the subsequent hospital
care codes (99231-99233) or the subsequent
nursing facility care codes (99307-99310) depending
on the site of service. It was determined that
the inpatient consultation codes were redundant
and that other more specific E/M codes would
