Coding Communication:New Codes for Bypass Grafts
This coding update will focus on four new
codes established for CPT 2004 to report the
performance of bypass graft procedures. They
are as follows:
35510Bypass graft, with vein; carotidbrachial
35512Bypass graft, with vein; subclavianbrachial
35522Bypass graft, with vein; axillarybrachial
35525Bypass graft, with vein; brachialbrachial
Typically performed by vascular surgeons in the
hospital inpatient setting, upper extremity
bypass graft procedures have been widely performed
for the past 30 years, but, due to their low
volume, no specific CPT codes were ever created.
