Radiology: Radiologic Guidance
Question: With the deletion of code 77032, {Mammographic guidance for needle placement, breast (eg, for wire localization or for injection), each lesion, radiological supervision and interpretation}, in the CPT 2014 code set, is mammographic guidance and stereotactic guidance reported with the breast aspiration codes 19000 and 19001? Are these services still being performed? If a breast cyst aspiration is performed with mammographic guidance, how would this be reported?
Answer: Mammographically guided cyst aspiration has been superseded by ultrasound guidance and is no longer typically performed; therefore, code 77032 was deleted for 2014...
