Reporting Stomal Endoscopy (44380-44408)
Colonoscopy through stoma, defined as the examination of the colon, from the colostomy stoma to the cecum or colon-small intestine anastomosis, may include examination of the terminal ileum or small intestine immediately proximal to an anastomosis. To ensure accurate use of colonoscopy through stoma codes, and to reflect new and updated approaches to performing colonoscopy through stoma, new guidelines were established for 2015 that define the endoscopy procedures and provide instructions for proper reporting of these procedures.
