Question
My physician performs a procedure called intradiscal electrothermal coagulation, and I can't seem to find a specific code to report it. Can you please Advice?

From a CPT coding perspective, CPT does not contain a specific code for reporting intradiscal electrothermal coagulation (IDET). Therefore, the unlisted procedure code 64999, Unlisted procedure, nervous system, should be reported. It is important to note than when an unlisted code is used, a copy of the operative report should be included when submitting to third-party payors.
