Thyroid Carcinoma Metastasis Uptake, 78020
Approximately 16,000 new cases of thyroid cancer are reported each year, ten percent of which are aggressive. Prior to 1999, CPT did not contain a code that accurately described the resources employed to derive uptake measurement for metastatic foci. As a result, the CPT Editorial Panel added CPT code 78020, Thyroid carcinoma metastases uptake (List separately in addition to code for primary procedure) to CPT 1999.
