Important changes were made in the Pathology and Laboratory section of the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT®) 2023 code set. This article will discuss several of these changes, including those made to the introductory guidelines of
the Genomic Sequencing Procedures and Other Molecular Multianalyte Assays subsection. Three new codes (81449, 81451, 81456) were established for targeted genomic sequence analysis of ribonucleic acids (RNAs) and codes 81445, 81450, and 81455 were revised.
