What is the appropriate code(s) to report when the surgeon resects the first rib instead of the cervical rib and divides the scalene muscle? Code 21705 specifically refers to the cervical rib, as opposed to the first and/or cervical, as is referenced in code 21615. Code 21615 states, Excision first and/or cervical rib, but it does not capture the division of the scalene muscle as does code 21705. Would both codes be reported?
