Please clarify the intent of code 19380 as it relates to a Frequently Asked Question in the September 2021 issue of CPT® Assistant. In the scenario presented in that question, a second-stage reconstruction was performed during which a tissue expander was removed and the final implant placed. Is it appropriate to report code 19380 before the second stage of a breast reconstruction procedure?
