Cryoneurolysis applies freezing cold to produce nerve destruction via Wallerian degeneration, which may be reversible. CPT 64624 and 64640 describe "destruction by neurolytic agent;" 0440T-0442T describe "cryoablation." CPT Assistant (April 2019) stated that cryoneurolysis may be reported with 64640 (64624 was effective in 2020).
