An external company provides intraoperative monitoring technologists to hospitals and outpatient surgery centers. A physician on the hospitals medical staff monitors the cases remotely online in real time by logging into the external companys machines. The physician reports code 95941 for each hour of monitoring after baseline testing. May the external companys technologists report code 95940 because they are physically in the operating room providing the technical component during the recording? If not, what code should they use to report their monitoring time?
