A shunt is commonly understood to describe a diversion-type procedure, that reroutes excess fluid to another location in the body. How is an intracardiac shunt defined for the purpose of reporting codes 33745 and 33746? Should code 33745 be reported for the creation of a shunt only or the stenting of an already established shunt?
