Are changes to physician incident-to services on the horizon?
The Office of Inspector General (OIG) recently recommended changes for physician incident to services-services billed by physicians but actually performed by nonphysicians-based on findings from a recent study. CMS agreed some of the recommendations, which means changes may well be on the horizon.On August 5, the OIG released a report, "Prevalence and Qualifications of Nonphysicians Who Performed Medicare Physician Services," based on a study performed in the first three months of 2007.
