The Centers of Medicare and Medicaid have issued updates concerning E-Prescribing for 2009. As authorized under Section 132 of the Medicare Improvement for Patients and Providers Act of 2008 (MIPPA), a new incentive program, separate from the PQRI incentive program, has been established for those providers who elect to participate in, successfully implement, and qualify for the 2009 incentive bonus program. The government has high hopes that this program is a big step toward achieving the nation's conversion to Electronic Health Records.
