Finishing the Electronic Claims process
Many practices and clinics have embraced electronic claims filing and are realizing significant benefits by reducing filing errors, saving staff time and dramatically improving turnaround time for payment.Two other steps in the process of reducing manual effort and the dependency on paper deserve serious consideration: Electronic Remittance Advice files (ERA) and Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT).Medicare says the following about EFT and ERA:"[Medicare] recommends that providers accept ERA transmissions in lieu of mailed SPRs [EOBs], and that they accept EFT payments rather than paper checks.
