Setting provider fees
Consultants charge physicians and hospitals between $5,000 and $25,000 to set fee schedules for the procedures they perform. Since it is illegal for physicians to discuss their fees with other physicians, it is often a difficult task to figure out exactly what to charge patients for the procedures performed. Many physicians set fees equal to their highest paying contract. Others use a multiple of the Medicare fee schedule.
