2019 ICD-10-CM update: Expect to provide more specificity when coding surgical site infections

Providers should anticipate at least 435 ICD-10-CM code changes starting Oct. 1, including 247 new codes, 139 revised codes and 49 invalidated codes, according to the hospital inpatient prospective payment system (IPPS) proposed rule released April 24.
