CPT 2013: E/M revisions would expand services for NPPs to directly bill
Heading into 2013, make sure your non-physician practitioners’ (NPPs’) credentialing is current and that you are up to date on your knowledge of state scope of service regulations for clinicians such as nurse practitioners (NPs) or physician assistants (PAs), a coding expert recommends.
That’s because the AMA is updating many of its coding guidelines to specify use by “qualified health care professionals,” according to a summary of the CPT Editorial Panel’s May meeting issued on the AMA website.
