Diagnosis coding corner: Add correct BMI diagnosis to obesity codes to file proper claims

Question: One of my providers has said that we could code morbid obesity with a body mass index (BMI) under 40, but when looking at the diagnosis code of E66.01 (Morbid obesity), it states greater than 40. So would we use the E66.09 (Other obesity due to excess calories) and also use the additional BMI code for under 40?
