Diagnosis coding corner: New ICD-10 e-cigarette abuse, heart attack codes coming for use Oct. 1
In mid-April, practices will get a first look at many — but not all — of the ICD-10-CM code changes that will take effect Oct. 1. That’s when CMS releases the changes as part of the proposed Medicare inpatient hospital payment rule. The good news is that there should be significantly fewer new, revised and deleted codes than the thousands released last year, according to ICD-10-CM Coordination and Maintenance Committee officials.
