ICD-10 tip of the week: Code type of tobacco and patient status in I-10
In ICD-9, you have just two tobacco-related codes, 305.1 (Tobacco use disorder) or V15.82 (History of tobacco use), but in ICD-10 you’ll have more specific codes to select from. These will help you communicate more details about the type of tobacco product the patient uses and note any effects.
