Multifidus muscle dysfunction: here’s what the new ICD-10-CM code describes

The multifidus muscles are long narrow muscles located deep in the back along the length of the spine. They are involved in contracting the neck and trunk and they help with spinal stability and alignment. If these muscles become weakened, atrophied or impaired, it can lead to low back pain.
