New coding guidance: Epidural steroid injection notice requirement is simpler than it sounds

The local coverage determination (LCD) for epidural steroid injections that is currently in effect for most states contains an unusual requirement: The treating provider must notify a patient’s primary care provider (PCP) when a course of epidural injections will last longer than 12 months.
