Payment increase for services by anesthesiologists, 2011 to 2012

Medicare and private payers carefully watch their claims data for sudden utilization and payment increases as these are common indicators of improper billing practices. Practices can protect themselves from denials and overpayment demands by conducting an internal review of claims that may be in on the carrier's radar. The following chart shows which anesthesologists' services had the sharpest total payment increases between 2011 and 2012.
