Observation Care: Did You NOTICE The New Law Covering Observation Patients?
Written notice to patients to be required under observation status in 2016. If you were thinking the two midnight rule was the biggest regulatory hassle surrounding observation patients, guess again. Background: Congress was considering the Notice of Observation Treatment and Implication for Care Eligibility (NOTICE) Act that would require hospitals to fully inform patients who spend more than 24 hours in observation without being admitted as an inpatient.
