Question: A patient reported to the ED with a cyst on her left eyelid. Our physician performed an incision and drainage (I&D) and biopsied the lesion. How should I code this scenario? Can I report the biopsy separately?Oregon SubscriberAnswer: You should report a single CPT code for the I&D and the biopsy. On the claim,- report 67700 (Blepharotomy, drainage of abscess, eyelid)- attach 374.84 (Cysts of eyelids) to 67700 to represent the patient's cyst.
