Question: I’m starting to see mention of use of a product called WoundSeal in my ED charts. Would you consider WoundSeal a tissue adhesive similar to Dermabond and therefore a billable service? Oklahoma Subscriber Answer: WoundSeal is not an adhesive technically, but rather an occlusive. It is an over-the-counter product that when applied quickly stops bleeding by forming an occlusive seal. The natural clotting process proceeds below the seal. This process is not the same as using an adhesive glue product like Dermabond to close a laceration.
