Consider Patient, Surgical Factors in Coding Tonsillectomy
General surgeons who perform tonsillectomies may find coding them particularly challenging, especially if they do not perform them regularly. Patients who do not respond to antibiotic treatment of infected tonsils are frequently sent to an otolaryngologist or general surgeon to have them removed.
