Question: A patient is assigned to a hospitalist group for observation admission. 'The emergency department physician notifies the hospitalist on call of the admission. The ED physician writes the admission orders, and the patient is admitted around 10 p.m. The hospitalist does not come in to see the patient the evening of admission. The next day, around 8 a.m., the hospitalist for the unit sees the patient, then dismisses him. All of this care is observation. How should I report the hospitalist's care?
