The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services handed out marching orders to fiscal intermediaries Feb. 27 on upcoming changes to the hospital outpatient prospective payment system. In two recent program transmittals (change requests 3144 and 3145), CMS lays out updated ambulatory payment classification payment amounts and OPPS changes relating to drugs, biologicals and radiopharmaceuticals.  In other recent program transmittals, CMS: issues Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act-related instructions to durable medical equipment regional carriers (CR 3148), and instructs Medicare contractors on the use of the Medicare zip code file (CR 3160). ...
