Answer: Assuming the provider performs the arthrogram as a stand-alone procedure without a radiographic arthrogram, then you should code the CT arthrogram as a CT scan of the respective extremity. In this example, you will code a CT arthrogram of the shoulder as a CT of the upper extremity with contrast. You will report code 73201 (Computed tomography, upper extremity; with contrast material(s)).
