Question: One of the physicians performed a slit lamp exam for a patient. He did not visualize any foreign bodies or corneal abrasion. Can I still code 65220 with the E&M office visit code? Michigan Subscriber Answer: You cannot code 65220 (Removal of foreign body, external eye; corneal, without slit lamp) if no foreign body was found and removed. Cornea exam will be considered as included in E/M, which means you cannot separately claim for this. Only report the appropriate E/M code for the visit. ...
