Suppose a patient who has diabetes is admitted to the hospital for an infection. An endocrinologist follows the patient's diabetes while an infectious disease specialist follows the patient's infection, says Barbara Cobuzzi, president of Cash Flow Solutions in Lakewood, NJ.
