It's up to providers to prove once and for all that E/M doesn't stand for "extravagant and misplaced." The American Health Information Management Association and the American Hospital Association have formed a panel to sort out the evaluation and management tangle once and for all. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services called for providers to propose new codes for facilities to report the E/M services that physicians provide in them.
