NCCI IS Not Just About Bundling And Mutually Exclusive AnyMore
Don't just think of the National Correct Coding Initiative as a reflection of procedures that are part of other procedures, or exclusive with other procedures. These days, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services no longer views NCCI as a function of those categories, says Dawn Hopkins with the Society for Interventional Radiology. "They see NCCI edits as a means to prevent coding errors of any kind," she says. "They have a whole list of types of coding errors they hope to prevent by passing coding edits." ...
