• CMS doled out over $92 million in PQRI payments in 2008, more than double what providers collected from PQRI in 2007. According to a new CMS fact sheet outlining the results of the 2008 PQRI program, 85,000 eligible professionals earned incentive payments in 2008, compared to the 56,700 who participated in 2007 (the 2007 participants collected only $36 million from the program). Practices in Florida and Illinois received the highest PQRI payments during 2008. CMS has made changes to the incentive program for 2010, with the aim of allowing more providers to participate.
