Deprecated Oxygen saturation in Capillary blood by Oximetry 2710-2
LOINC Code
LOINC code | 2710-2 | ||
---|---|---|---|
name | Deprecated Oxygen saturation in Capillary blood by Oximetry | ||
status | DEPRECATED | ||
status reason | Erroneous - Oximetry was formerly used as a short hand for pulse oximetry. The more precise name is pulse oximetry, which measures the oxygen saturation and other parameters at the point where arterial blood surges into the capillaries. Per the experts, the system for pulse oximetry measurements is really arterial blood, not capillary. The oxygen saturation of capillary blood could, in theory, be measured by collecting capillary blood in a capillary tube and running to the laboratory, but what is usually done is to place a pulse oximetry sensor on the finger or other part of the body. Hence 59408-5 is the correct term. | ||

property | MFr = Mass Fraction | ||
time | Pt = Point in time: To identify measures at a point in time. This is a synonym for “spot” or “random” as applied to urine measurements. | ||

scale | Qn = Quantitative: The result of the test is a numeric value that relates to a continuous numeric scale. Reported either as an integer, a ratio, a real number, or a range. The test result value may optionally contain a relational operator from the set {<=, <, >, >=}. Valid values for a quantitative test are of the form "7", "-7", "7.4", "-7.4", "7.8912", "0.125", "<10", "<10.15", ">12000", 1-10, 1:256 | ||
