cefTRIAXone [Susceptibility] for meningitis by Gradient strip   31141-5

LOINC Code

LOINC code31141-5
namecefTRIAXone [Susceptibility] for meningitis by Gradient strip
descriptionSusceptibility of an isolate to ceftriaxone in the context of a patient with meningitis, i.e., the "meningitis breakpoint". Various agencies, including the FDA and CLSI in the U.S. and EUCAST in Europe, publish guidelines for determining susceptibility of different organisms to different antimicrobials. In most cases, susceptibility does not vary by type of infection, but for a few specific types of infection, including meningitis, pneumonia and urinary tract infection, certain antimicrobials have different susceptibility thresholds.

Fully-Specified Name

componentcefTRIAXone
propertySusc  =  Susceptibility
timePt  =  Point in time:  To identify measures at a point in time. This is a synonym for “spot” or “random” as applied to urine measurements.
systemIsolate.meningitis  =  Isolate from patient with meningitis
scaleOrdQn  =  Quantitative or Ordinal:  Test can be reported as either Ord or Qn, e.g., an antimicrobial susceptibility that can be reported as resistant, intermediate, susceptible or as the mm diameter of the inhibition zone. We discourage the use of OrdQn in other circumstances.

last change typeMIN  - change to field other than name
change reasonFeb 2016-removed "E-test" from the short and long names because the "ETEST" name is trademarked; Moved "meningitis" from Component to System to more accurately represent that the concept means antimicrobial susceptibility result for a patient with meningitis rather than susceptibility result for a meningitis form of the antibiotic.
