Deprecated Serotonin release 100 U/mL heparin.porcine [Units/volume] in Serum   50729-3

LOINC Code

LOINC code50729-3
nameDeprecated Serotonin release 100 U/mL heparin.porcine [Units/volume] in Serum
descriptionResulted as percentage of specific serotonin release: (cpm test - cpm spont)/(cpm max - cpm spont) x 100, where cpm "spont" is the spontaneous release of [3H]serotonin from cells incubated in absence of antibodies, and cpm "max" is the maximum release of [3H]serotonin from cells lysed using 1% Triton X-100.
statusDEPRECATED
status reasonAmbiguous - Nearly all heparin used in serotonin release assays is porcine (made from pig intestines), including low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) and unfractionated heparin (UFH). Additionally, most labs today only use UFH since it is more likely to detect a positive result. Tests using low molecular weight heparins (e.g. Lovenox®) may cross-react with antibodies present in a patient's sample, resulting in weak or inconclusive results. Because it is important to identify the type of heparin used in the assay and porcine heparin is ambiguous in that it could represent either LMWH or UFH heparin, we are deprecating the porcine heparin terms.

propertyACnc  =  Arbitrary Concentration
timePt  =  Point in time:  To identify measures at a point in time. This is a synonym for “spot” or “random” as applied to urine measurements.
systemSer  =  Serum
scaleQn  =  Quantitative:  The result of the test is a numeric value that relates to a continuous numeric scale. Reported either as an integer, a ratio, a real number, or a range. The test result value may optionally contain a relational operator from the set {<=, <, >, >=}. Valid values for a quantitative test are of the form "7", "-7", "7.4", "-7.4", "7.8912", "0.125", "<10", "<10.15", ">12000", 1-10, 1:256
