It is based on a variety of behavioral descriptions of the core features of the autism spectrum (social impairments, communication impairments and repetitive or stereotyped behaviors) from the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems 10th Revision (ICD-10) and Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 4th edition (DSM-IV).
