descriptionThis is a bioassay to detect antibody to hepatitis C virus (HCV). Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection is the most common chronic blood-borne infection in the United States; approximately 3.2 million persons are chronically infected (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention 2008). The measure determines whether a participant has been infected with hepatitis C virus. Hepatitis viruses constitute a major public health problem because of the morbidity and mortality associated with the acute and chronic consequences of these infections.
