name | HPV E6+E7 mRNA cells/cells [Presence] in Cervix by Flow cytometry (FC)
description | This term was created for an assay that identifies cervical cells containing HPV E6 and E7 polycistronic mRNA using in situ hybridization with oligonucleotides specific for the mRNA transcripts. The cells remain intact, and following fixation and permeabilization, the probes enter the cells. The flow cytometer measures two things: 1. Quantification of E6 and E7 mRNA in each cell and 2. The percentage of cells over-expressing E6 and E7 mRNA. The test does not report the percentage quantity but an ordinal (positive, negative, indeterminant) based on the reported percentage. This test is similar to LOINC 69002-4, which is a target amplification nucleic acid probe test to detect E6+E7 mRNA.
status | ACTIVE | ||
Fully-Specified Name | |||
component | Cells.HPV E6+E7 mRNA/cells
property | PrThr = Present or threshold: The Property PrThr stands for “Presence or Threshold”, meaning either a) the actual presence or absence of an analyte, or b) that the amount of analyte detected is over some predetermined threshold.
time | Pt = Point in time: To identify measures at a point in time. This is a synonym for “spot” or “random” as applied to urine measurements.
system | Cvx = Cervix | ||
scale | Ord = Ordinal: Ordered categorical responses, e.g., 1+, 2+, 3+; positive, negative; reactive, indeterminate, nonreactive.
method | Flow cytometry | ||

Associated Observations
LOINC codes that represent optional associated observation(s) for a clinical observation or laboratory test. A LOINC term may represent a single associated observation or panel containing several associated observations.

last change type | MIN - change to field other than name
change reason | The PrThr property is used for LOINC terms whose results are reported using an ordered categorical scale, regardless of whether or not an internal threshold was used to make that determination. This change was approved by the Laboratory LOINC Committee in June 2016.
