name | Inulin renal clearance/1.73 sq M in Urine and Serum or Plasma
description | Inulin is measured to evaluate kidney function by determining the glomerular filtration rate (GFR) -- the flow rate of filtered fluid through the kidney. Inulin is completely filtered at the glomerulus, allowing the clearance of inulin to be used as a highly accurate measure of GFR. The submitter laboratory's testing approach is to collect samples every 30 minutes up to 240 minutes after an 18 hour infusion with inulin (long test) or after an initial bolus injection (short test).
status | ACTIVE | ||
Fully-Specified Name | |||
component | Inulin renal clearance/1.73 sq M
property | ArVRat = Volume Rate/Area
time | Stdy = Duration of the study
system | Urine+Ser/Plas Ser = Serum Plas = Plasma
scale | Qn = Quantitative: The result of the test is a numeric value that relates to a continuous numeric scale. Reported either as an integer, a ratio, a real number, or a range. The test result value may optionally contain a relational operator from the set {<=, <, >, >=}. Valid values for a quantitative test are of the form "7", "-7", "7.4", "-7.4", "7.8912", "0.125", "<10", "<10.15", ">12000", 1-10, 1:256

class | DRUG/TOX | ||
type | 1 Laboratory | ||
order vs. observation | Both
formula (readable) | Inulin renal clearance (mL/min/1.73 sq M) = (Urine Conc Inulin) X (Volume rate of urine) / (Plasma conc inulin), adjusted for body surface area
example UCUM units | mL/min/{1.73_m2} The Unified Code for Units of Measure (UCUM) is a code system intended to include all units of measures being contemporarily used in international science, engineering, and business (www.unitsofmeasure.org)
example unit | mL/min/1.73 sq m
Associated Observations
LOINC codes that represent optional associated observation(s) for a clinical observation or laboratory test. A LOINC term may represent a single associated observation or panel containing several associated observations.
History/Usage | |||
first released | |||
last updated | 2.69 | ||
last change type | MAJ - change to name field other than Component;
change reason | Release 2.69: TIME_ASPCT: This time period can vary depending on number of samples taken and is not always set at 4 hours, so time aspect changed to Stdy, with the intention to mean "over the period of the study".;
