Mycobacterium tuberculosis gyrA gene fluoroquinolone resistance mutation [Presence] by Molecular method   72276-9

LOINC Code

LOINC code72276-9
nameMycobacterium tuberculosis gyrA gene fluoroquinolone resistance mutation [Presence] by Molecular method
descriptionTest is to detect resistance of Mycobacterium tuberculosis strains to fluoroquinolones (FLQs) due to mutations present in the gyrA gene (coding for DNA gyrase). The types of mutations present or absent indicate if the isolate is susceptible or resistant to fluoroquinolones. This code is based on, but not limited in use to, the submitter's test kit: HAIN Lifescience's GenoType MTBDRsl.

Fully-Specified Name

componentMycobacterium tuberculosis gyrA gene fluoroquinolone resistance mutation
propertyPrThr  =  Present or threshold:  The Property PrThr stands for “Presence or Threshold”, meaning either a) the actual presence or absence of an analyte, or b) that the amount of analyte detected is over some predetermined threshold.
timePt  =  Point in time:  To identify measures at a point in time. This is a synonym for “spot” or “random” as applied to urine measurements.
systemIsolate/Specimen
scaleOrd  =  Ordinal:  Ordered categorical responses, e.g., 1+, 2+, 3+; positive, negative; reactive, indeterminate, nonreactive.
methodMolgen  =  Molecular Genetics:  General class of methods used to detect genetic attributes on a molecular basis including RFL, PCR and other methods.

Associated Observations

LOINC codes that represent optional associated observation(s) for a clinical observation or laboratory test. A LOINC term may represent a single associated observation or panel containing several associated observations.

History/Usage

last updated2.65
last change typeNAM  - change to Analyte/Component
change reasonThe PrThr property is used for LOINC terms whose results are reported using an ordered categorical scale, regardless of whether or not an internal threshold was used to make that determination. This change was approved by the Laboratory LOINC Committee in June 2016.; Updated Component to reflect that gyrA is a native gene in which a mutation causes fluoroquinolone resistance, System from "Isolate", and Method from "Probe.amp.tar" according to the new sustainable model for LOINC molecular resistance terms [Approved by LOINC Laboratory Committee in June 2018].
