name | Deprecated HIV reverse transcriptase+protease+integrase gene mutations detected [Identifier]
description | HIV-1 genotyping resistance assay starts with the isolation of HIV-1 RNA from blood plasma, followed by amplification of the protease (PR), reverse transcriptase (RT) and integrase (IT) coding regions using sequencing methods to determine drug susceptibility. This code is based on, but not limited in use to, the submitter's test kit (GenoSure PRIme),a DNA sequence assay that detects mutations within the protease (amino acids 1-99), reverse transciptase (amino acids 1-400), and integrase (amino acids 1-288) coding regions of HIV-1. Assessment of drug susceptibility is based on the interpretation of mutations identified. It is performed to assess treatment failure, assist in choosing alternate regimens, and to assist in choosing a regimen that will reduce vertical transmission in pregnant HIV infected women. The answer list provided with this code represents example mutations that may be identified and is not a complete list.
status | DEPRECATED | ||
status reason | Erroneous - Both the Component and the System are incorrect. Because the mutations are reported independently for each gene, the "+" in the Component should have been "&", and the System is Plasma, not Isolate.
Replacements | alternatives to this code:
| ||
Fully-Specified Name | |||
component | HIV reverse transcriptase+protease+integrase gene mutations detected
property | Prid = Presence or identity: Prid stands for “Presence or identity”, is used for assays that detect whether or not an analyte of a particular kind is present, and if it is, to identify the specific analyte.
time | Pt = Point in time: To identify measures at a point in time. This is a synonym for “spot” or “random” as applied to urine measurements.
system | Isolate | ||
scale | Nom = Nominal: Nominal or categorical responses that do not have a natural ordering. (e.g., names of bacteria, reported as answers, categories of appearance that do not have a natural ordering, such as, yellow, clear, bloody.

Basic Attributes | |||
class | ABXBACT | ||
type | 1 Laboratory | ||
order vs. observation | Both
Associated Observations
LOINC codes that represent optional associated observation(s) for a clinical observation or laboratory test. A LOINC term may represent a single associated observation or panel containing several associated observations.
History/Usage | |||
first released | |||
last updated | 2.56 | ||
last change type | DEL - delete (deprecate)
change reason | This code was deprecated because the Component and System were both incorrect. The mutations are reported separately so the "+" should be an "&", and the System is Plasma, not Isolate.
