nameHepatitis E virus genotypes 1+2+3+4 RNA [Presence] in Serum or Plasma from Donor by NAA with probe detection
descriptionAn in vitro nucleic acid amplification assay for the direct qualitative detection of hepatitis E virus (HEV) genotypes 1-4 RNA in human plasma or serum. This is a blood screening assay to detect HEV RNA. Plasma from whole blood, blood components, or collections by apheresis can also be used. Plasma from all donors or manufacturing pools may be tested as separate specimens or in pools composed of aliquots of individual specimens. This assay is not meant for use on cord blood nor for use as an aid in diagnosis. This term was created for, but not limited in use to, the Cobas® HEV assay.

Fully-Specified Name

componentHepatitis E virus genotypes 1+2+3+4 RNA
propertyPrThr  =  Present or threshold:  The Property PrThr stands for “Presence or Threshold”, meaning either a) the actual presence or absence of an analyte, or b) that the amount of analyte detected is over some predetermined threshold.
timePt  =  Point in time:  To identify measures at a point in time. This is a synonym for “spot” or “random” as applied to urine measurements.
systemSer/Plas^Donor
    Ser  =  Serum
    Plas  =  Plasma
scaleOrd  =  Ordinal:  Ordered categorical responses, e.g., 1+, 2+, 3+; positive, negative; reactive, indeterminate, nonreactive.

Associated Observations

LOINC codes that represent optional associated observation(s) for a clinical observation or laboratory test. A LOINC term may represent a single associated observation or panel containing several associated observations.

last change typeMIN  - change to field other than name
change reasonThe PrThr property is used for LOINC terms whose results are reported using an ordered categorical scale, regardless of whether or not an internal threshold was used to make that determination. This change was approved by the Laboratory LOINC Committee in June 2016.
