The estimated calorie intake is reported retrospectively by the patient or by the dietitian upon inspection of the patient's intake. Caloric intake can be reported in kilogram calorie or kilojoule units. The conversion factor is (1 kilojoule (kJ) = 0.239 kilogram calorie (kcal).
