name | Hepatitis B virus e Ag [Presence] in Serum, Plasma or Blood by Rapid immunoassay
description | A rapid screening test to detect hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg) in human blood to diagnose previous or ongoing hepatitis B infections, and also can be used to screen for the presence of HBeAg in blood products for transfusion. Rapid tests for Hepatitis B e (envelope) antigen (HBeAg) are available in test strip and cassette formats from manufacturers in various countries including the US and China. (As of 08/25/2014, no HBeAg rapid test kits are approved for use in the United States). This term was based on, but not limited in use to, the Medinostics International HBeAg Rapid Screen Test kit that uses a colloidal gold enhanced immunoassay for the determination of anti-HBe antigen (HBeAg) in human whole blood, serum or plasma. Testing can be done in 15-20 minutes.

Fully-Specified Name | |||
component | Hepatitis B virus little e Ag B = Buccal
property | PrThr = Present or threshold: The Property PrThr stands for “Presence or Threshold”, meaning either a) the actual presence or absence of an analyte, or b) that the amount of analyte detected is over some predetermined threshold.
time | Pt = Point in time: To identify measures at a point in time. This is a synonym for “spot” or “random” as applied to urine measurements.
system | Ser/Plas/Bld Ser = Serum Plas = Plasma Bld = Whole blood
scale | Ord = Ordinal: Ordered categorical responses, e.g., 1+, 2+, 3+; positive, negative; reactive, indeterminate, nonreactive.

change reason | The PrThr property is used for LOINC terms whose results are reported using an ordered categorical scale, regardless of whether or not an internal threshold was used to make that determination. This change was approved by the Laboratory LOINC Committee in June 2016.; The EIA method, which was always intended to cover more than just enzyme-linked immunoassay and whose display name for the long common name has always been Immunoassay, was renamed IA in order to eliminate ambiguity about whether the method has a broader meaning than just enzyme-linked immunoassay. Likewise, EIA.rapid was renamed IA.rapid. These changes were approved by the Laboratory LOINC Committee in June 2016.
