description | Panel for qualitative or quantitative screening for Hepatitis C virus antibodies using any laboratory method except immunoblot assay (IB). This panel was created for Meaningful Use 3 as part of a project by the American Medical Association (AMA) to develop three Clinical Quality Measures for Hepatitis C - 1) One-Time Screening for HCV for Patients at Risk, 2) HCV Screening for Active Injection Drug Users, and 3) Appropriate Screening Follow-up for Patients with HCV Infection. This concept may be used by a physician to document that he/she has reviewed the HCV antibody test results performed by an outside lab. When the physician does not know which specific LOINC code to choose when documenting the test and results from the lab report, this more generic LOINC panel code can be used. The HCV antibody screening panel includes all antibody tests using any method such as EIA but excluding immunoblotting assay (IB) method, since IB is confirmatory Ab test for HCV. In the eMeasure, this LOINC panel and associated LOINCs codes will be included in a larger value set for the specific type of screening - HCV Antibody Test. | ||
