description | Sjogren's disease is an autoimmune disease associated with kidney and lung disease as well as disorders of the salivary and lacrimal glands, which lead to problems with dry eyes and mouth. Sjogren's syndrome is associated with isolated salivary and lacrimal gland dysfunction and may be associated with other autoimmune disorders, such as systemic lupus erythematosus. Antibodies to salivary gland protein 1 (SP-1), carbonic anhydrase 6 (CA6) and parotid secretory protein (PSP) may be useful markers for identifying patients with Sjogren's disease or Sjogren's syndrome early in the course of disease and for those who have significant symptoms but are anti-Ro and anti-La antibody negative, which are two of the antibodies that are typically used to diagnose Sjogren's. Antibodies to SP-1, CA6 and PSP rarely occur in healthy controls or patients with other autoimmune disorders who do not have eye and mouth symptoms. [PMID: 23123440] This term was created for, but is not limited in use to, the IMMCO Diagnostics' early Sjogren's syndrome antibody profile, which includes terms for IgA, IgG and IgM antibodies to SP-1, CA6 and PSP.

component | Salivary gland protein 1 & Carbonic anhydrase 6 & Parotid secretory protein Ab.IgA & IgG & IgM panel
property | - | ||
time | Pt = Point in time: To identify measures at a point in time. This is a synonym for “spot” or “random” as applied to urine measurements.
system | Ser = Serum | ||
scale | Qn = Quantitative: The result of the test is a numeric value that relates to a continuous numeric scale. Reported either as an integer, a ratio, a real number, or a range. The test result value may optionally contain a relational operator from the set {<=, <, >, >=}. Valid values for a quantitative test are of the form "7", "-7", "7.4", "-7.4", "7.8912", "0.125", "<10", "<10.15", ">12000", 1-10, 1:256
method | IA = Immunoassay: Encompasses all immunoassays with a few exceptions, including Immune Blot and Immune Fluorescence, which were created based on historic usage.

change reason | The EIA method, which was always intended to cover more than just enzyme-linked immunoassay and whose display name for the long common name has always been Immunoassay, was renamed IA in order to eliminate ambiguity about whether the method has a broader meaning than just enzyme-linked immunoassay. Likewise, EIA.rapid was renamed IA.rapid. These changes were approved by the Laboratory LOINC Committee in June 2016.
